Blueberry Jam with Chia Seeds

- 4-5 cups fresh blueberries
- 3-4 tablespoons fruit pectin powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon citric acid
- 0.5 cup distilled water
Blueberry jam with chia seeds preparation process
1. First, sprinkle the sugar over the blueberries and leave the berries for 2-4 hours. Then pour some water into the blueberries and blend the berries and sugar using a blender.
2. Spoon the blueberry purée into the saucepan and pour the distilled water.
3. Bring the blueberry purée to an active boil, reduce the heat and cook over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes without covering but removing the foam from the blueberry jam.
4. To preserve the blueberry jam for the winter, add some citric acid and stir. Citric acid is a preservative that removes the sweetness of the blueberry jam.
5. Melt the pectin in a glass with the warm and distilled water and stir it well to prevent it from curling up.
6. Now pour the pectin into the boiling blueberries and add in the chia seeds to cook the blueberry jam on medium heat for 20 minutes. Remove the foam from the jam surface and leave the blueberry jam for 20 minutes to cool.
7. Blueberry jam with chia seeds is slightly gelatinous, but while hot still drips off the spoon. Remember that at a first glance, the freshly cooked blueberry jam doesn’t look like jam at all, but that is ok because the gelation occurs gradually.
8. Don’t forget to prepare the jars for the blueberry jam. The number of the jars depends on how many ingredients there are.
9. Stir the blueberry jam with chia seeds and pour it into the sterile jars.
