Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Preparation Time: 70-80 minutes
Strawberry Jam with Plums Ingredients:
30 oz or about 900 g strawberries
20 oz plums, pitted
4-5 oz gelatin
2 cups of white sugar
0.5 cup water
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Remove the green stalks from the strawberries. Sort the strawberries and pitted plums. Rinse the berries well under the cold and running water.
Next, transfer the strawberries and plums to a saucepan, sprinkle them evenly with the white sugar. Bring the strawberries and plums to a boil and cook them over low heat for 30 minutes. During this time, strawberries and plums should give juice in which sugar will dissolve.
Do not forget to remove the foam from the jam. Transfer the strawberry and plum foam into the stainless steel and heat resistant bowl.
Pour the lemon juice into the strawberry and plum mass and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
Combine the gelatin with some water in the bowl and mix well. The gelatin must be melted, a water bath could help.
If you are using an alternative thickener, follow the manufacturer's recommendations on the packaging.
Combine strawberry and plum purée and gelatin. Stir, but do not bring to a boil again, otherwise, the gelatin may not work, as it will lose its characteristics.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven and sterilize the clean jars for at least 10-15 minutes.
Ladle the still-hot strawberry and plum jam into the prepared and sterilized jars and seal the jars.
The strawberry and plum jam can be served as a dessert for tea or used as a filling for various pastries and cookies.
